When you hear the name Madeleine McCann, you probably automatically think about the missing persons case. It was big news 18 years ago, and it still is big news today, as we continue to hear about new developments.

One thing that you may not think about, however, is her brother. Sean McCann, who is now 20, as is his sister Amelie. They were always in the background when it came to the family. Today, however, they are both fantastic athletes who may just be moving forward.

Amelie takes part in triathlons and track competitions and Sean is a well-known swimmer. In fact, he just continues to win one competition after another.

The twins, Sean and Amelie were only two years old when Madeleine disappeared in Portugal. Sean is now grown up, and is trying to join Team GB in the LA Olympics in 2028.

Sean has been quite impressive over the past few years when it comes to his swimming achievements. Recently, he won the gold medal after competing in an open water swimming competition in the Mediterranean.

In addition, both Sean and his twin sister are doing well at university. Sean is studying chemical engineering and has been involved in competitive swimming for almost 10 years.

Now that he is 20, he is dedicated to that career in the water. On a local website, he wrote in 2023 that he ‘got up at 4 am multiple mornings each week to train’. That’s a significant amount of dedication.

Sean was at the Commonwealth Youth Games in 2023 and represented Team Scotland. He made it to the 400 and 1500m Freestyle finals.

Something else that Sean is known for is Open Water Swimming. He is even part of the National Open Water Development Squad in that country.

Amelie is also doing well in sports, competing in cross-country and triathlon events. She is also studying at a University in the north of England.

It will be interesting to watch the development of their careers as they move forward.
